PHILIP ROCHAT
July 5th 1971 - May 1st 2019
The Philip Rochat Establishment for Support & Therapy of Illness using Games & Entertainment (d/b/a PRESTIGE) was founded to honor Philip Rochat by providing people affected by illness with a way to endure their personal struggles and to find the strength and positivity to conquer any challenge. Phil loved games and gaming with those around him. Games and entertainment were a large part of Phil’s life and it helped him deal with his struggles. They provided him with an outlet for creativity, social interaction, and challenge. Phil acted as Game Master but he was also an avid player in many role-playing games. He also enjoyed a variety of video games and board games.
Phil was at his core a genuine and good person. Phil had a personality you could not help but love. He was easy-going, funny, intelligent, creative, and considerate. Phil would look at the world from different angles and try to figure out how things worked but was practical when he needed to be. Phil was a good person and a role model. He was positive even when he was upset.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Phil never gave up. He never once let cancer change him. Phil had some tough times with cancer, but he was always positive. Phil remained a good husband, son, brother, in-law, friend, co-worker, neighbor, and member of society until the day he died.
Phil enjoyed games in which heroes joined together to solve a mystery, go on an amazing adventure, or win the day against evil. While anyone can be a hero in a game, few people are heroes in real life. Phil was a real life hero. The kind of person he was inspired everyone he knew to be better. We at PRESTIGE encourage everyone to “Be Like Phil.”
When Philip Rochat finally succumbed to cancer, we wanted to carry on his legacy by helping others. We sincerely hope that PRESTIGE can inspire others in the way that Philip Rochat inspired everyone who knew him.
